I have a new tank...55 gallons, that we have been setting up with the help of our local LFS owner. His methods have been rather strange and we are not real pleased with the outcome and are trying to salvage our young tank. In a weeks time our nitrates and nitrites have shot up, and our water quality is less than desirable in clarity. His advice on fish has been crap too. At his advice we have a HOB skimmer. A NEXX power filter. Paid a ton for our reef lights and have about 45 lbs of live rock and still adding. yet he advised us against a sump and just wants us to dose our tank with about 20 different chemicals a day.I spent weeks reading before we set this tank up but Ive about had it and his and we are seeking some advice to salvage this tank quickly.
