I have a public service announcement to make since some events - TopicsExpress

I have a public service announcement to make since some events have transpired that have put my credibility in the Facebook artists community on the line: As some of you may have been contacted by me over the past few months to participate in an end of year art fair in Southern China, and have responded with filled out registration forms and images of your own work, I have most recently been given the most up to date terms and conditions which, reasonably, seemed excessive on the part of the Chinese organizers/curators, and most of you have backed out of participation - which is completely OK given the poor level of professionalism in the way I was given the information about the event to pass on to you bit by bit - it seemed like they were changing the rules as they went along, and it had the smell of a scam which is actually quite common in the Chinese art world. I am writing this status update to formally apologize on behalf of Zhao Hai, Chief curator of the Cui Heng Arts Compound in Zhongshan, China, and to assure you that even though communication here was handled poorly, the event is indeed legit and not a scam. I myself have found the final terms and conditions, such as the need to pay for your own shipment (especially unreasonable in the case of large works), and to donate one work to the state collection very unreasonable on their part. PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT IN ANY WAY AN ORGANIZING OFFICIAL OF THIS EVENT. The exhibition is mostly involving artists and art world affiliates of China and Southeast Asia. The chief curator knew I had a frequent communication with a network of overseas artists online and simply meant well to reach out to you in order to increase exposure for the event and perhaps for you artists as well. I participate on a daily basis in the discussions, private messages, and feedbacks for your artworks, as well as have developed a genuine camaraderie with many of you who I hope to meet face to face some day and to see your works in person. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that I have absolutely NO intention or reason of cheating you out of a few paintings. I have too much on the line for that.
