I have a sad precautionary tale to tell. Last night my oldest brother lost his dear canine companion of 10 years in a nasty thunderstorm. Sarge was on a metal cable run when lightning struck the tree the cable was attached to. The current traveled down the cable and killed Sarge. My niece has shared with me how devastated my brother is about how he lost his dear friend. He did not realize the danger until too late. Sarges cable allowed him to enter the house through a window. My understanding was that when my brother realized the danger of the storm the lightning struck the tree before he could unhook Sarge. We are lucky we did not lose them both. My niece stated that she hoped this story would go viral so that another family does not lose their beloved pet so tragically. Rest in Peace Sarge; you were loved and your family is truly sorry about the manner in which they lost you.
