I have always been a great fan of potatoes in all forms. There are some kinds though that really take me back to my youth. Especially, those served by the benign-looking ladies in the Fern Hill Elementary School cafeteria. Anyway, The Squeeze and I went out to dinner at Elis tonight. Elis used to be a smokey dive of a bar. It was kind of like Cheers for people that chain smoked, and checked between the sofa pillows for loose change. Then it got taken over and turned into a great New Yorkish kind of neighborhood restaurant with simple to more highbrow dishes. But I digress. So, tonight I was going to order something like a healthy boneless chicken breast with roasted asparagus. Then I caught sight of a dish that was accompanied by tater tots!! I couldnt resist. When the young, tattooed waitress with purplish hair put them down in front of me, I saw the ghosts of tater tots past and the benign-looking ladies from the Fern Hill Elementary School cafeteria.
