I have always been someone that gets fairly annoyed with silly - TopicsExpress

I have always been someone that gets fairly annoyed with silly trends, for example selfies or #firstworldproblems, and when I first starting seeing these ice bucket videos popup on Facebook, I was thinking oh no, here we go again. Well, having been submerged in social media and growth marketing for so many years, I honestly appreciate the awareness and virality of this campaign. People can scream and shout about the wasted water or call out others for not actually donating, but the point is that you are actually talking about it. Yes, the end goal is to raise money for ALS, but that is not the only reason why these campaigns start. You truly appreciate the power of social media when you see the type of awareness and reach that it can create, and this is one of the primary goals of all viral campaigns...awareness. You obviously cannot please everybody....trust me, Ive more than likely been annoyed by some silly fad that youve posted about before...but whether you donate, pour water on yourself because others are doing it, hate the wasted water or call out people for not donating, you cannot deny the fact that this campaign has worked. This is social media at its finest, and for that, I tip my (imaginary) hat. Thanks Jeff for nominating me and sorry that it took me so long to finally get it done! I have also donated to ALS, and now challenge Shivani, Saumil and Jason. I wont put a time limit on you since I lagged, but hopefully you can contribute somehow (ice bucket, donate or both).
