I have always wanted to write a book titled, You should have been here last week. It always seems like when I do a club, the crowd was 100 times bigger the week before. The impetus for the title comes from when I was performing at Charlie Goodnights in Raleigh, NC in 1998. The staff told me that just four days prior on a Friday , while he was filming in Durham, a comic stopped in and asked if he could go on after the headliners second show at midnight. The audience indulged management and received a 1.5 hour show that was later filmed in Carnegie Hall. The comic - Robin Williams, who was filming Patch Adams. 14 years later I met Mr. Williams and relayed this story to him. He apologized that he didnt wait until a week later. He said, Maybe we will work together in the future. I told him I doubted that and he said, Probably not. But its good to hold onto hope. I wish he had held on a little longer...
