I have an idea, and while its not fully fleshed out, I figured you guys might be able to either get it to the right people or help me fill in the blanks. With JPS closing, and everyone so concerned with what will happen to the building I had a thought (in the shower because those are the best kind) what if we turned it into an honest to goodness Rec/Community Center? Our Hockey teams dont have a rink, our swim teams dont have a pool. What about taking the money that closing the school will save and give the town what it needs? Maybe a banquet room or two to rent. The brand new playground is already there and the soccer and softball fields can get a refresh. We wouldnt have to rent from the Sports Club or Canterbury any more and wed have home turf for our sports teams to be proud to play at. It can have a minimal crew, some maintenance, a building manager or two to open and close it, maybe a few people for a snack shack. Lifeguard for when the pools open to public swim. It could generate some revenue for itself by charging to use it $5- or $10 to swim, maybe annual membership. I think its a pretty ok idea. Id like yalls opinions.
