I have an observation I would like to share on the energy-flow-process within certain recent, heated, Facebook discussions where people, humans, proclaim that they have an inside track on The Truth: I find myself reflecting along these lines: We would like to, perhaps we even tend to, tell ourselves a story and build a model inside ourselves (Made only of bits of ourselves, honest; there isnt anything else inside us. All of the meaning this has for me I am giving to it.) that will provide quick simple, perhaps even yes-no answers, to a stream of very sparse and iffy incoming grey-scale data. (Look at it: its a bunch of nerve firings) When one uses a yes-no (OR) detector to answer large-word-size, many-valued questions, one WILL get some very odd results, admittedly very quickly. Kind of like installing a fuzz pedal in your stereo system. While otherwise a fine signal processing device, it is not the best machine for the job if you are at all interested in the fine detail of the music. My experience and self-study suggest that this may be a function in the Human mind involving simplifying assumptions, lossy data compression and invisible self-healing splicing processes. It has to be made computationally efficient to have a chance at keeping up with the real world. Well, Ill tell you, there are very few things that I am sure of. I AM sure that the functioning of the Human mind is not what it claims to be. In simple geometric terms my model of the World I am in, no matter how vivid and accurate my experience of it might SEEM to me, cannot possibly have a strong and highly detailed one-to-one correlation with Absolute Reality; In simple terms, The Universe is very big and I am only small, just a few atoms formed into a colony of cells; an animal. No blame... In my model, just for starters, I find I am using 3 dimensions plus Time; Einstein needed 10 dimensions plus Time to describe the World that we are attempting to approach with Science. I figure that I must be missing most of the picture. I figure that the situation cant be that different, in principal, for my fellow Humans. It is amazing to me that this Rube Goldberg device that we use to manifest in this world works at all. I think we Humans tend to run into trouble when we stop asking questions and settle for quick simple answers. A good question can take you farther than a good answer. Just saying. Just thinking here.
