I have an old gown from the lovely Linda Pye Greene, and am wondering what I can do to snazz it up a bit. I tailored it to fit me, and of course had to take it up quite a bit... (Im 5-foot-nuthin.) Wound up cutting off over 6 inches at the bottom. So I have some extra fabric, but Im wondering just how fancy an ordinary woman would have gotten with her India print cotton gown. Im thinking of adding box-pleated robings; or maybe converting it to a stomacher gown and decorating the stomacher with black fabric or ribbon. I cant find much online with printed cotton, specifically. My gut tells me simple is best. What say you, Hivesters? Ive posted a pic of the gown, and a detail of the fabric, which is black, rust, and yellow.
