I have been a nurse in our health care system for over 20 years.....some years in a hospital....others in a clinic.....others in an urgent care and now I am in a role as a nurse for a company that manufactures biopharmaceuticals. since I have been a nurse I have always felt that our system here in the US OF A has been flawed, especially after I was working on the clinic side of nursing. Now I am going to tell you something that perhaps not many people have known. I worked as a family practice nurse for over 15 years in a prominent health care entity within Wisconsin. now I unfortunately know some not so nice things about our health care system.....and this is just not about the heath care entity I worked for but it goes for ANY health care entity within our state and from what I have heard from other friends in the health care system also happens in other states. So lets say Jane Doe who has blue cross blue shield calls to establish as a new patient within a certain health care entity in my city.......said Jane Doe is given the next available appointment.....which is usually within 1 to 2 weeks......then lets say Jane Doe who has Badger Care aka Medicaid or state funded insurance calls to establish care as a new patient within a certain health care entity in my city......GUESS WHAT.....she is what they consider an LP or low pay patient......she then is told that that provider does not have any openings for months down the road because she is an lp patient........how fair is this? it isnt.......and it is one of the things that just makes my skin crawl......this is why I say NO ONES HEALTH CARE SHOULD BE FOR PROFIT!!!!!! While I am happy we now have the ACA.....I will go one step further......I dont think our president went far enough.....I truly believe that our president should have taken it a step further....I believe our health care system should be that of socialized medicine.....you then take the profit out of health care.
