I have been a strong supporter of the Miss America Organization since I competed in Texas prelims in my teens and twenties. And I dont want to bash or just spread bad news, but someone needs to lose their job over this. From state directors who dont KNOW the specifics of the age requirements to the terrible media handling (very slow response and to how quickly they replaced her, making it irrevocable), it has been simply inexcusable. This young lady postponed an internship with the Department of Justice to be Miss Delaware and she may not get it back. She was two weeks into fulfilling her title when informed of the error so she had also informed her graduate school of the one-year postponement that would be required of her to serve as Miss Delaware for a year. Shes not just crying over missing out on competing at Miss America (although that IS a big deal) but they turned her life upside down. Im gonna need a cooling off period with MAO for a while.
