I have been a teacher for over 40 years. I have seen todays youth become so color-blind that racism could be virtually eliminated if not for those who wish to keep it alive for their own personal gain. Children learn what they are taught. My maternal grandparents (Irish Protestant descendents) were prejudiced against Catholics. They have passed on, and in my generation I see none of that any more. If only we would let go of this divisive kind of teaching, and let all the Donald Stirlings, Al Sharptons, and Cliven Bundys die off, this too would become a thing of the past.
