I have been assigned the number 9: 1. I am blessed to be married - TopicsExpress

I have been assigned the number 9: 1. I am blessed to be married to my high school sweetheart since 1984. I could never say that our marriage has been perfect because there were several times that I was not sure that our marriage would last another month but Nolan and I made a decision when we married that it was a forever one and that we would keep working through whatever came our way. However, like so many things in life, I would not trade away the bad times for fear that I would trade away the good times too. 2. I have two beautiful, smart and talented daughters. They have changed our lives in such wonderful ways and it makes me sad to think how close Nolan and I came to making the decision not to have children. We finally placed the decision in God’s hands and I am so thankful that He knew better. I believe with all my heart that you never really see the world until you see it through the eyes of your own children. Both girls never cease to amaze me with their talents with dance being just one of them. I see the poise, grace and confidence that they have because of the years of dance. I also know all the hard work that they have put in that so many others have no idea of what it takes to be able to do the things that they do. Both can take music or a poem and make you feel what they feel through their dance. Also Nolan says that I have one daughter who looks like me as a child and one that looks like me now. 3. I am an only child. I tell my parents that I was so bad that they would not have any more children after I came along. I also told my mom when I was younger than I was going to have 8 children to make up for not having any brothers or sisters. I didn’t realize until I had 2 children that I would have to win the lottery several times to be able to afford 8. 4. I have been blessed with two wonderful parents and I simply cannot imagine life without them either. They have been married for more than 50 years. My mom is an amazing woman who has a heart of gold and can cook anything that she wants to. She stayed home with me until I started college. My dad worked two jobs so that my mom could be home with me and I really don’t think I knew him very well until my own daughters came along. I do know however that I am loved by both of them. 5. I have also been blessed with two sets of grandparents that were married for more than 60 years. I have listened to their stories of their early years together and also watched them as they grew old together. Their marriages were not perfect either and again I knew that I was loved by them. I miss them so much and I have so many wonderful memories. 6. I have had several pets throughout my life and all touched me deeply. I am lucky to be alive with how I treated some of them. My first dog I am sure thought I was the devil-child because I buried her alive in my grandfather’s sawdust pile. She just wagged her tale and licked my face when I “unburied” her and I thought my mom was going to kill me when she asked where Sandy was and I showed her. My current four-legged daughter is Molly who my mom says is a “Jack Daniels” terrier. We just call her a “Jack Russell terror”. 7. Ashley says I have to tell the story of my “idiot side”. My dad as most of you know works on rebuilding and repairing cars and often paints them. When I was about 5 or 6 he was working on a car and had sanded and painted and worked on it for days. He was finishing up painting it and was almost finished. I decided I wanted to get his attention and I was tapping on the window. That didn’t get his attention so I decided to kick the window to get his attention. I did! I broke the glass all over his freshly painted car. I felt the breeze as he walked by me to get to the house. He told my mom to deal with me because he was so mad. I had already told Karinda that he was going to kill me. 8. I was asked by one of the dance competition owners to help with one of the events. He needed someone to hand out information packets at a practice and get things organized quickly. When Nolan asked him why he wanted me to help he told Nolan that I could handle myself in a crowd. Nolan then asked him if he was calling his wife pushy. The look on the directors face was priceless. From that point on I was known as the mom with PMS – Pushy Mom Syndrome. 9. If you had told me in my high school years that I would be helping Nolan deejay in our 50s, I would have laughed. We are having the time of our lives and we are meeting some incredible people.
