I have been avoiding this Facebook trend, but I have now been assigned the number 9 and have agreed to play along: 1) I was born in Ohio but have lived most of my life in Texas - 10 years in Lubbock and now 16+ years in Midland. My brother Chris Jebsen was born in Texas and has lived most of his life in Ohio. Except for two years of living in Salina, Kansas and a very brief time living in Chicago, I have lived exclusively in Ohio and Texas. 2) As a result of my Ohio upbringing and my lack of interest (as I get older) in the NFL, I have three sport seasons that I care about and follow - fortunately, all of them slightly overlap and theres no down time without one of them being in season: Cincinnati Reds baseball, Ohio State Buckeyes Football and Ohio State Buckeyes Basketball. 3) I have seen all three of these teams live in action - I have been to Ohio Stadium in the 1980s to see the football team defeat the Baylor Bears and then attended a game at the University of Texas in 2006 when OSU football team defeated the Longhorns, I have been to Ohio State Basketball games in Columbus as well as seeing them two years ago play at Allen Fieldhouse at the University of Kansas and at the Final Four in New Orleans (they lost both times), and finally I have been to many home and road Cincinnati Reds baseball games and Lisa and I even purchased a brick at the new Reds baseball stadium with Zachs name on it. 4) I have a goal of attending a baseball game in every major league park and have now seen games in 21 MLB teams parks - I even attended a no hitter in Tampa Bay in 2010 with Dennis Gilmore during the AACT International festival. I need to see games at Boston, Oakland and Kansas City in the American League, and Atlanta, Colorado, Florida, Philadelphia, Milwaukee and St Louis in the National League. I dont know how I missed KC when I lived in Salina! 5) Some people already know this, but I was an extra on the movie Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption (that was its working title) when it was filmed in Mansfield, Ohio and I was running the Mansfield Playhouse. You can see me pass behind Morgan Freeman when hes working in the grocery store after hes been released, and I had a chance at lunch that day to speak with Mr. Freeman about Driving Miss Daisy - which I was about to direct - and he was very nice and shared some wonderful advice. He told me to pick someone with experience to play Hoke that had lived through segregation, and at auditions I had a young man who was an excellent actor and an older man who had never acted before - I went with the older man and it was an amazing experience to work with him and learn from him. 6) In 2012, I directed Midland Community Theatres opening musical Guys and Dolls and it was my 100th production as a director. My 106th production Annie opens this Friday at Midland Community Theatre 7) Golf has been my passion away from the theatre, and the last couple of years have seen some of my better scores. When I moved to Midland in 1997, I score my first hole-in-one the first time I played a Hogan Park, and I got my second hole-in-one two years ago in Sun City West, Arizona while playing with my Dad. Two years ago, I shot a 69 while playing with Bill Dingus at Nueva Vista in Midland, and then I shot a 68 this past year while playing with Gary Madden and Jim Miller 8) During college, I spend the fall semester of my senior year (1988) at the University of Aberystwyth in Wales - I took interesting classes, played basketball with several other Americans and traveled around the country and had a great time. I flew home in December on a Pan Am flight from Londons Heathrow to JFK about a week before the flight that was bombed - often referred to as the Lockerbie bombing. Most of the Americans killed on that flight were college students returning home from studying abroad (like me). 9) I earned a BA in Mathematics and Theatre from Wittenberg University, and then a MA in Dramatic Theory and Criticism from Bowling Green State University but the best thing I did at BGSU was meet the love of my life, Lisa Jebsen - together we have an amazing son Zach and I am lucky to have both my parents and Lisas parents for love and support
