I have been boxing up my things in anticipation of moving soon, and found a letter my brother Danny sent me in October 1974 during my first semester at WSU. For those of you who dont know, about a year later he died in an auto accident. Thought some of you might find it of interest as I did, so here it is as accurately as I can type it.... Wilma! 10/4/74 Things have been going pretty good at the old Alma Mater, C.H.S., except for Trig. I want to get out but big Bill Brumsickle refuses to let me. I’m editor of the newspaper this year, which is kind of fun, but also a hassle. I suppose you heard about me getting kicked out of school for drinking, it was, and still is a bummer. The big Senior Keg is this weekend at Mason lake, by Shelton. Terry Jo Moore moved there and invited all of us to come up and mangle her house while her parents are gone. It’s kind of fun being a senior. I’ve been going out with lot’s of different girls, (one of which poses a particular threat). Mom and Dad are giving me the hassle of my life I’d do anything to get mom off my back. Norma is 100% cheerleader every minute I hear her say at least once “Go Jackets fight Win,” “Rah, Rah, Rah,” “Sis boom bah.” I’m in the worst mood I think I’ll go smoke a number or take Cheri Nall out that ought to take my mind off the present situation. Anyway nothings changed. The same old bad every day events. Get up in the morning, go to school take a shit etc…. There’s a new girl in my Shakespeare class she’s pretty decent. I hope the Senior Keg is really wild it would do me a lot of good. I got new fake I.D. with a picture and everything its nice to be 21. I can hear mom and Dad talking about me now. Maybe I’ll drop out of school and join the army. I got an Opel G.T. its pretty nice but needs some work. Dad would like to give you the Vega but mom is against it. I’m pushing for you, it should be over there by Christmas at the latest. I saw Julie today she is still hanging around. 10/5/74 I began writing this letter yesterday guess what happened last night.
