I have been chatting with my daughter Vikki, who lives in Darwen Lancashire England. We were discussing the hardships of people all over the world and the massive disproportionate wealth in the world. Its time for a world wide revolution on poverty! This following statement from my daughter is a sentiment that rings true in far too many places on the planet earth, today Vikki writes Seriously, a lot of the most vulnerable people are worse off than before the crash. We see a lot of people out on the streets in town. Many more than ten years ago. I gave a guy in Manchester three quid the other day and he was almost embarrassingly grateful that someone even acknowledged him. The more people have, it seems, the more entitled they seem to feel. Theres a lot of rhetoric about how people should pull themselves up by the bootstraps. Ive seen here how hard that is to do when you dont even have boots. My union has run a campaign for a living wage and got the lowest paid working for the council £7.25 an hour, care assistants and classroom assistants mostly. Should help a little, but this is what needs to happen everywhere instead of the government propping up low wages with welfare. Starbucks and Walmart can afford to pay, but why would they if they dont have to.
