I have been deliberately remaining out of the politics of Gaza, Israel, Palestine and the Texas border. But the more I think about those poor children, who, by nothing but the misfortune of their birth, are being killed, ostracized, bombed, traumatized and witness to atrocities I cannot fathom, I am ashamed. What happened to our humanity that we cannot protect the children? How did it become SO important to be right that we forgot what what really matters? I cannot imaging sending my child, BY HERSELF, through the desert to face rape, murder, death by exposure to the elements, rather than stay with me to face things more horrible than those risks. I cannot fathom what could allow another human to decide these children have less of a right to live somewhere safe than they do. I cannot imagine living somewhere that bombs hit schools and hospitals and that there are people, people in power, who choose to allow this to happen, all in the name of victory. We are failing. We have failed. Im gonna go hug my little girl.
