I have been fortunate enough to only "deal" with homework from a parent perspective a couple of times. (It was a freaking disaster, and a child who genuinely loves to read, hated that she HAD to read, and report back to her class.) As a student of education I loath homework in the grade school years. Children have a natural love for learning, and an inherit curiosity that allows them to learn from everything they do, including learning while playing!! Children also need a break, and 6.5 to 8 hours a day of work (depending on childcare needs) is enough for young children to have to follow rules and produce. The author states, "I know that there’s little academic benefit to homework before middle school, and even then, the benefit is limited..."
