I have been going through some Rance Cox withdraws not only muscly but personally. He was my room mate on the road for 2 1/2 years and right there next to me on stage and in the van, he helped me deal with my divorce and was the most positive influence a man can have when that man needed him most. I have said it over and over. Rance was and is way more than A guitar player. He was and is my brother first and foremost and Ill always be grateful to him. I spent almost every day 24 hours a day with the guy and each moment was a joy and an honor. This weekend Pussy Wagon AKA Chuck Lancaster kept pulling things out of his hat that made my jaw drop. He is as farther along after 5 shows than most guys have been 5 months and 60 shows in. He has had no rehearsal at all. Heres some CDs see you in a week and boom! Chuck reminds me so much of Rance. Same temperament and such similar personalitie and values. He is like Rance a total class act and the kind of person Brandon and I need on the road with us. This week we had a bit of a treat as Chuck brought his beautiful funny wife of like 50 years or something insane. No one stays together like that anymore. Her name is Monica Lancaster and seems to be as supportive of a wife as a man can have and I am here to tell you, a musician whos wife isnt behind him and beside him and understands his drive and need to play or respect his dreams then one of two things will happen, he wont make it playing music or their marriage wont make it. I dont see either of these two thing happening here. Pussy Wagon is still uber new and has an ocean of licks, styles and songs to learn and thats no different than all the players who have become before him. He has to carve out his place in Sinner history and as he becomes more confident and learns to read Brandon and Is body language he will be able to anticipate everything. We will be a tight cohesive unit thats doesnt need set list or words. We will be as tight as were have been with the Rance the last two years. I have seen this play out many times and I see Chucks got the talent in spades (no big deal talented guitar players are a dime a dozen) He has drive but most of all he has the heart and a support system and that you can not measure. Very few men or women have all The things they need to last and I believe Chuck has it all and it runs deep. Its not easy being a Sinner. We dont get big brakes that make us famous and rich over night, we are a working class underground band and will always be so. You have to love to play and love what you play to make it in this band. There is no Grammy or million dollar house or $200,000 car waiting around the corner. Its a modest life but its a life that will be filled with experiences you can talk about the rest of your life and a body of work you can be proud of. Chuck has some chicken pickin wood shedding to do as well as harmonies like all new guys. Its a dying art but he has drive and talent in truck loads so we are not a worried. He has thousands of miles and many nights away from home now for as long as he wasnt to be a Sinner but he has support and the honest deep selfless love of a strong good women so I am not worried at all. Usually when I meet new perspective pickers women I know its not going to last at a glance. A Musician cant have a week needy selfish women. She has to be strong, independent and understanding. After this weekend and by the way he speaks about his wife and their children and their life I have never felt more confident by a new guy and since no man is worth a shit with out the right women behind and beside him Brandon Burke Stefani Moretti and I would like to welcome Monica and Chucks children to the Sinner family. Thats what we are. No other word fits. You will all sacrifice right along with our loved ones and you are all the foundation that lifts us up and gives us the courage to attempt a life with no safely net. I know I am rambling a little here but I have had a really scary brutal and painful 6 weeks and to find a good man perfect for the Job who can fill some mighty big shoes and who has the right home life to support him is a tremendous weight of my shoulders. Pussy get out that Shaver at Smiths Ole Bar and live and breath Eddy Shaver and lets get to work on a new Sinner CD. You have been lolly gagging enough. ;)
