I have been known to post self-righteous nonsense in the past, but this is my friend Lesley and it was his birthday yesterday. You might see him if you walk past the DCA on the perth road; huddled under layers with a book or paper in hand. Hes now been homeless for the good long part of this year, and I never noticed him until I started working nearby. Its not because I show blatant ignorance to the homeless, but because he never asks anybody for change. He sits there, smiling as you walk past, or may say the odd good day. He cant bring himself to demean by begging. We chat about books in politics. All he wants is a chat sometimes, for people to acknowledge hes a human being too no matter his circumstance. So anyway for his birthday I bought him some new gloves and socks for the cold weather, and slipped him a twenty pound note so he could get warm in the B&B for the night. If you are ever up the Perth road, stop for a chat, hell appreciate it.
