I have been observing all the meetings that are taking place in my constituency for the past few weeks. It seems as though this seat is as important as a general elections with everyone’s ground troops geared up for battle. When the PP government took office in 2010 we all breathed a sigh of relief because there was a wanton waste of taxpayers’ dollars by the former administration; while the poor man continued to struggle for basic amenities such as a proper medical care, a supply of water, better roads and the list goes on and on. Mr. Warner did a lot of work in Chaguanas West and we appreciate all his hard work and efforts. In our own homes nothing is perfect, much less so for a government, however it will set a bad precedence if the citizenry is asked to re-elect Mr. Warner back into office pending so many allegations of corruption. It is not right to have a government official with so much hanging over his head. This is not a practice that we as a rapidly developing nation should adopt and condone. The voters in general were between a rock and a hard place because no corrupt practice had ever surfaced before while he was in government. Over the weekend, a media house published an article alleging that Mr Warner solicited millions of dollars from wealthy businessmen through surreptitious means. This story has been a revelation and I must state that I am no longer between this rock and a hard place. Shanti Ramdass
