I have been on this earth for over 3 decades, and Im very glad to have learned a few things. First, Ive learned that if you think you have a full grasp on... pretty much anything... then youre foolish and naive. Second, If you dwell in the past then youre going to live there forever. Theres a difference between learning from your past, and letting it consume you. Third, Life isnt about living for yourself. You can achieve anything and everything you ever wanted, but if it isnt something that makes your loved ones respect you and take pride in you, then youll never feel whole. Build the world you want others to remember you for, not the one your selfish heart desires. And Fourth, dont be afraid to show love. Love for your faith, love for your country, love for your family, love for your friends, the fact is that many people get scared of being ridiculed for showing love and devotion. The truth is though that for every coward that would berate you for your devotion to love, there are a hundred thousand people that will idolize you for it. If we accept that some people will hate you for success and spend more energy trying to destroy you then build themselves then you can put things in perspective and ignore those that will never accomplish glory and resent you for seeking yours. Simply ask this question of yourself at the end of each day... Did I do everything today that would make those I care about the most proud to know me, and encouraged to do the same? Truthfully, everything else is just stuff to deal with, and easily handled when you put the true matters into perspective. I intend to have a drink or two enjoying the fact that I love those in my life who mean the most, and realize Im ignorant enough to truly know HOW to be the best Man I can. Im certain the day I understand things on that level will be the day our Heavenly Father calls me home and proclaims Finally, you understand what I wanted you to learn. -Cheers
