I have been posting my Zoo Keeper stories bringing humor and light to situations that are highly relatable to pet parents. When trying to articulate the last 26 hours in a humorous way it is not possible. Naya has had difficulty controlling her bowels and has continued to need to pee frequently. This morning Tommy ran up stairs to tell me that she was refusing to eat, this was a major red flag she could always eat. She was also refusing to go outside. I brought her the vet and we did blood work and a full exam.She has lost weight, her food is passing without digesting and she has significant pain in her abdomen.She has been diagnosed with Kidney disease. There is no cure for this and we are trying to manage the symptoms and keep her happy. She has responded to the Iv and to the anti nausea and pain killer injections. She has perked up and did eat a bit. She is on 3 new meds that will support her kidneys. However, we know that this is terminal and we are just attempting the best that we can to keep her quality of life to the standard in which she is still happy. We know what is in store and its going to be the roughest decision we will ever make. Just loving each day she is with us and each hike is a little more special.
