I have been reflecting on yesterday’s events as I have read so - TopicsExpress

I have been reflecting on yesterday’s events as I have read so many others thoughts/opinions, etc. First, I feel very sad for all the negativity placed on what my whole family feels is a wonderful community event. Pumpkin Fest, while it is hosted by the awesome City of Keene, NH, is truly at the very least a Monadnock region event as there are so many schools and other towns that have helped make this event possible. Its an event that many in the community cherish and enjoy as a family. It is also a great fundraising event for many non-profits and one of the best weekends for small businesses in the area. My family had a wonderful time yesterday and felt safe at all times. The temperature was perfect and overall the weather itself was good. Everything was beautiful in the Pumpkin Fest area! I felt the event itself was positive until the outside turmoil turned the feelings of the event negative. Media coverage of the turmoil unfortunately headlined many with “Pumpkin Fest”, etc.; when it really had nothing to do with the event itself other than it was in the same city, on the same day. Some have blamed bad parenting, some have blamed the president of Keene State College, some blame city officials, some blame the law enforcement officers, some blame “Pumpkin Fest” itself. Seriously? My opinion is that of lyrics from a song my band, Version Six rocked last night at McCues…”Everybody knows That the world is full of stupid people”The Refreshments – Banditos. These stupid people are the ones to blame!! I worry that they may ruin such a positive event only because they decided to go overboard in drinking and being stupid on the day of Pumpkin Fest. Why does excessive drinking at a party, away from the Pumpkin Fest event have to be associated with this great event? I will say that I was very happy with our gig last night! We rocked it!
