I have been saying it for awhile: Practitioners of real cinematic sci fi (I.e. Neill Blomkamp, Rian Johnson, Zack Snyder, Joss Whedon, Guillermo Del Toro, Duncan Jones) will be laughing to the point where they pee themselves. Why? Because this movie looks and feels devoid of any craft, wit and style. I gave The Hunger Games franchise credit for having its own voice, feel, identity and such. Those films were actually good because they tried and succeeded in capturing the tone, emotion and scope of their source novels. However, the aesthetically similar Divergent gives me chills down my spine because its made by Summit, a company that puts hardly any effort into their work (I.e. The Twilight Saga). It reeks of all the problems that plagued Twilight: poor acting/casting, weak script, poor production value, unintentionally funny dialogue, slow pacing. They should have taken notes from films such as The Hunger Games and District 9 on how to make smart, satisfying action movies. And yes, I have seen some of the the clips from the internet.
