I have been searching the internet tonight just browsing through various sites etc, and one thing that caught my eye was a comment on a forum from and elderly couple from down south quoting The North East is a very lovely place everything about it is so looked after the Northumberland Coast is one of the best stretches of seaside you can get and adventure. I visit Northumberland every summer to see the Farne island off Seahouses & Coquet Island just off the rural harbour port of Amble (Originally Warkworth Harbour) the only thing that brings such devastation to Northumberland is In doubt the A1 just North of Neecastle-Upon-Tyne to Single Carriageway that runs from Morpeth To Scotland. For many of years I have always checked Northumberland Gazette online & every so often it seems to appear that local communitys are trying there very best to help get the rural A1 Duelled which has tragically took lives in the past. Reading these articles and visiting northumberland for my self, its such a beautiful county and should not be let down by this petition and it needs sorted before it takes more local victims away Seeing this and brought me to do this, what the anonymous woman said above is 100% true and this should change for over 20years this has been going on and its about time it changes and changes now, thousands of tourists as well as locals travel the A1 North-bound from Morpeth all the way to Scotland every single day and there is always traffic Jams and other things causing traffic problems as the woman said it has took lives, unfortunately one of them was my dad back in 2008 when a Dutch lorry driver done a very stupid mistake and trying to take over a slow moving crane carrier on the most rural place on the road just north of Alnwick as he pliers into my father by doing this. I have saw for myself what can happen on the road and what the consequences are and it just isnt on, the Northumberland Coast is pretty much the best place to visit in the United Kingdom, as there so many tourist attractions and brings thousand of tourists each year to the North East. I have also came across this North Northumberland coroner Tony Brown said the A1 from Morpeth to Berwick was the “weakest link” in the road between London and Edinburgh because of its dangerous mixture of single and dual carriageway sections. He predicted there would be more preventable deaths in the future unless the road was given a higher priority for upgrading and dualling. “This stretch of road is notorious for serious injuries and deaths – surely it has to be taken into account.” The Labour MP also said: “People are going to die as a result of the state of this road unless something is done about it.” I have travelled that stretch of road no more than 10 times since the death of my father in 2008, I want to use that road as its a main route to Scotland but knowing what can happen and that its very dangerous have doubts on me, I am writing the status to try and get as much help as I can and as much back up to help this, then there is the £15million south west train line in progress when they already have a train route which runs the country, so why make another one? Why not dual the main stretch of road which is taken lives away and is a very busy road, while theres other motorways with 5/6 lanes and more being built, why not stop and get the main road from England to Scotland sorted and cut down on the number of deaths that its tragically taken away, I think its wrong and I want to get as much people to back me up on this as all local communitys so read, and see this and also my help, I have thought about huge fund raisers to help this go ahead but could we get enough people to get on my side and help me further with this? Please share this status and get the word out as I know Im not the only one that wants the A1 a safer road! THE A1 needs DUALLED come on folks lets do this!
