I have been thinking...dangerous thing...but really how do we know - TopicsExpress

I have been thinking...dangerous thing...but really how do we know what or how our ancestors meant by something written by 1 wealthy white man 250 years ago. We did not live then. We really dont understand nor can we feel what these people did. Try to look at it this way, what do you think our descendants will say about us and how we lived 200 years from now. that we were pretty backward. Maybe I think about this and more than many because of my researching ancestors that lived back at the time of the Revolutionary War and early 1800s. I wonder how did you get there? And why did you move/ How did you feel about this war? Were you for it or against it/. We tend to think having babies and not be married is a new thing. I am researching a great great great grandmother to me. She was born in 1815. Her father died in 1813. History shows him as the father. Highly unlikely. So here are the possibilities if their dates of death and birth are correct. She had 2 older sisters. The oldest is old enough to have had a child at 15 or 16. Maybe the mom had another child at 35 but never married again. The older sister having a baby and having mom and dad raise the child as their own is pretty common, then and now. Very hard to figure this out for sure.
