I have been to Nepal more than 50 times because Nepalese people are very gentle, kind and so friendly. And I became a great affectionate of Nepalese people and this beautiful country. So, I was desperately willing to do something for the people. I am the president of an eyeglass company. So I thought I could provide eyeglasses to needy people free of cost and serve them with eye checking through volunteer based eye camping. We, the Eye Camp Team, have examined the eyes of 6,908 people and donated 4,342 pairs of eyeglasses till today to needy people of rural areas in Nepal via the eye camps for 15 times since 1998 every year. Moreover, collaborating with us, the doctors of Kathmandu Eye Hospital have treated 3,340 people free of charge. At the same time, we presented 37,570 pencils to the children. We are so glad to be appreciated by a lot of people who got better vision as well as stationeries. This time, we have planned to organize the 16th Eye Camp from 1st to 9th Nov. this year at the village of Dapcha, Kavre. We are planning to examine the eyes of about 500 villagers. Two Nepalese eye doctors will cooperate with our project. Our 4 Japanese staffs will volunteer as the examiners and will bring eye test instruments, 200 reading glasses, 300 useful frames, 2,000 pencils and ball-point pens to Nepal. The stationeries will be donated to the children in the village. And we will bring the instruments back to Japan after the completion of the activity. I, Matsuda Yuji, will supervise all the movements myself, as the director of the project. And determined to shoulder the full responsibility for the entire activity.
