I have been up the Front to Wipers (Ypres) just about twenty times since the year 2000, as a visitor/ tourist. If you are going, here are a few tips. If you are driving and do not drink book a B&B outside the city, they are a lot cheaper. Make sure you are not going during the Ypres car rally in June. If you want to lay a wreath at the Menin Gate contact The Last Post Association through there web site with the date and they will arrange for you to do it at no charge. For the wreath contact the RBL they will send you one for a donation of about £34.00. If you are want to go on November 11th book your B&B at least a year in advance. If you want to be inside the Menin Gate join the Last Post Association cost for one year €40.00. Instead of Standing outside in the wind and rain seeing nothing. You have a very good view inside. And most importantly make out an itinerary, do your home work. Oh yes I should have said if your staying outside Ypres and driving and you want to eat, you will still end up in Ypres because Belgium is closed after 6pm. And take lots of money.
