I have been wanting to post something about the Michael Brown - TopicsExpress

I have been wanting to post something about the Michael Brown tragedy, but I have been afraid to say anything because I am so worried that anything I say will be misunderstood as racist. I only know what I read in the news, and I have read sooo many conflicting reports. I honestly dont know what to believe anymore - and that being said, how do all of you with such strong opinions about the matter know what to believe??? Everyone seems to be so sure about what happened. If it is true that this young man turned and charged at the police officer as I have read, then why is the police officer at fault? If that is not what happened, are you saying that the officer just shot him with no prevocation? I am so sorry for the loss of this young mans life, but how are all of you so sure that he is innocent? Is it a matter of excessive force? Too many shots fired? He should have just made a well-aimed shot at his knee? My ex-husband is a Baltimore City Police Officer, and my son Cody is following in his footsteps. I am scared to death of the danger my Cody will face in this job. Am I to think that he should think twice when he feels threatened, and just try to diffuse the situation some other way, when he has only seconds to react? I am aware that police brutality is a real thing, and is terribly wrong. But can anyone tell me what I am missing here with the Michael Brown tragedy? It all seems to point to the police officer being threatened. Without any nastiness, I welcome any comments from my friends.....
