I have been watching the comments re Joe hockey stating that poor people dont own cars or if they do they dont use them.Now i can see hidden behind that statement is great sense as to which i will clarify it.1 If the Excise was raised to 50 cents a litre there would be lots of poor people that would give up cars ,this means they would [A] Use public transport [B]walk,now this would inturn make the poor people fitter plus the side benefit of getting all the piles of junk that poor people drive off the roads thus reducing pollution this would in turn make road transport more efficent because of no traffic snarls.Then because poorpeople and their junker cars are off the road the road toll would drop as well {C]Because of the above factors poor people may choose to buy a horse and cart to travel in,this in turn would be extra income for our farm sector by breeding horses,then last but not least with all these horses being bred the excess stock could be slaughtered thereby helping our abbottoir industry ,and last of all thepoor people would have a whole new food source thus supporting our food sale industry .So when you look at it its a Win,Win all round
