I have been working on a book for several months now and it seems at times I get writers block and dont really know what to say. There is one thing I would like to share with you about a lady that I simply adore. Her name is Fanny J. Crosby. If you have a hymnal of the old traditional Church hymns you will find her name many times. This lady lived to be 95 years old and wrote more than 8, 000 hymns in her life time. I really think that the most astonishing thing about her is the fact that shortly after birth she was blinded. Her grandmother Eunice and later a maid by the name of Mrs. Hawley taught her the Bible and most incredible she had a memory like no other. She learned by heart Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, plus the 4 Gospels, most of the Psalms, all of Proverbs and many portions of the rest of the Bible. She was one of Americas most popular evangelist and crowds would line up for blocks to get to hear her speak. A lady in upper state New York (rich) offered her home for Fanny to live in but she refused and opted to stay at a mission for the homeless and help others. Thats where she spent most of her life. You see personal belongings meant nothing to her. She couldnt see them anyway. She didnt know if she was riding in a t-model or a limo. Living in a mansion or a cabin. It didnt matter to her. Jesus and others is what mattered. You know sometimes I wish we could all be blind to the things of this world that we think we just got to have. It seems we have to keep up with the Jones. I wonder if we wouldnt be better off. Sometimes we turn a blind eye to the wrong things. Most of us couldnt quote one chapter of the Bible by heart. I wonder who the bind ones really are. Just wondering. Thanks for your time. Good night and God bless. Remember God loves you and so do I. You know the rest.
