I have been working on my frothy floral quilt today and have had a slight change of direction with it. Ive used Sizzix applique flowers and leaves to enhance the plain areas in the blocks...which will also be intensely hand-quilted. Ive just placed the shapes on the surface to take a reminding image, then I shall bond and stitch them individually by machine, using blanket stitch and ordinary cotton. Its a bit of a chore, taking them on and off, but I needed to do it to know how many leaves and flowers to cut, and because Im appliqueing it in a piece as it were, I wanted to avoid the bonded shapes coming off and having to be re-applied...And the last picture is just a little snap of some rather beautiful rose hips, the wealth of texture and rich colours of which caught my eye...
