I have been working on the new skill system for about a week and a half now and it is about 70 - 75% complete. I was going to provide some details late last week but I wanted to make sure that the new design was going to function properly before spilling the beans. Now I can tell you exactly how the new skill system will work. So lets get right to it. Under the new skill system players will only be able to advance their skills by actually using them. The point scale will remain the same as the previous skill system. Players will be able to monitor skill gain from the status menu as they use their skills (At a sub point level via a green bar, see screenshot at bottom). Players will also be notified when they gain a whole point in a skill with a message. Players will no longer receive skill points when gaining a level. When a player gains a level they will continue to receive status points for Strength, Stamina, Knowledge, Intelligence, Faith and Meditation to assign as they do today. Additionally, under the new skill system players will no longer have a cap on the number of points they can earn for their skills. Players will instead have a maximum number of skills that they can have selected at any one time. The number of skills a player can have selected for use is based on their level. A player will be able to have 3 + (CurrentLevel/10) rounded down to the nearest whole number. To clarify below are a some examples • At level 7: a player may have 3 skills selected. • At level 22: a player may have 5 skills selected. • at level 70: a player may have 10 skills selected. • at level 85: a player may have 11 skills selected. Their is now a maximum level of 92. When reaching this level you capped your status points and have a maximum of 12 selectedskills. This will allow players to utilize/net use in many more poinst than the previous system. Players will be able to change their selected skills anytime they gain a level or every ~1.5 hours. When a skill is unselected players will keep the points they have earned in that skill but will no longer be able to use that skill or items that require that skill. This will allow players to max every skill if they wish... Under the new system the concentration skill may be removed or changed as it doesnt fit into this kind of skill system in terms of skill gain because it is completely passive. If it is removed a players knowledge/mediation values will likely be used to determine accleration in gains of mp/sp. IMPORTANT: we are hoping to release the patch in 1 - 2 week time frame. Please be sure to assign all available skill points before the release otherwise we will assign them randomly. We will send out 1 to 2 more reminders before then. Also players with more skills than allowed under the new system will have some of their skills deactivated. They may change their skills upon logging in after the patch. We are also hoping to setup a test server for players to try the changes before we go live.... There will be some other changes / additions with this patch such as improvements to the poison resist skill.
