I have but one plant enemy...the dreaded, horrifically prolific, and wickedly armed blackberry bramble...although, here, along the coast of the Pacific Northwest, Devils Club is by far the deadlier foe, that plant and I have a mutual respect and a respectfully maintained detente...not so with the green barbed whips of the blackberry clan. Today I waged war with my enemy...I am much bloodied, my machetes are badly dulled and nicked from encounters with stones stealthily hidden in moss and leafy cloaks of invisibility, but I am happy to proclaim that this day, I have taken the field against my foe and emerged the victor.
