I have come to a guitar decision: Being that I have recently incorporated a lot of alternate tunings in my playing style, I have been doing research and believe I have come to the following comclusions: #1- I am currently using a total of 5 different tunings. #2- I would like to be able to switch between tunings rather quickly when playing live. #3- I am interested in using both 6, and 12 string, in these tunings. Conclusion: I need multiple guitars. Problem: I am poor. Solution: Double-neck guitars. Problem: They are expensive. Solution: There are kits to build your own. Resolution: I am going to build my own double-necks from kits. -one that is 6/12 string -one that is 6/6 string -one that is 12/12 string Upside: -I can paint/stain/finish them myself -I can customize the electronics myself -They will afford me the convenience of what I wish to accomplish in my aural landscape. -All in all, it will cost (for 3 double-necks) what I would probably pay for 1, possibly 2 name brand, high-end guitars with only 1 neck each. -They would be absolutely unique. -I can decorate them with images of kitty-cats, should I so choose. Downsides: -They wont appreciate in value on the collectors market. Hmmm...like I care about monetary appreciation. NOT! LOL! P.S. When was the last time you saw anybody who played double-necked guitars EXCLUSIVELY and had a full Armada of them? (I use the term Armada due to the facts that; A- both ships and guitars {to the male population} are traditionally regarded as she. -Armada is a military grouping term, and nobody can deny that I am heavily influenced by Jimmy Pages Guitar Army way of doing things.) Nuff said!
