I have donations to drop off to Northwood police. I make blankets and toys for the officers to carry in their cars. They are meant for kids when they are caught up in a situation that involves the police. Domestic violence, house break in, car accident or any of the myriad of other reasons that the police are faced with scared and upset kids. If the officer can give the child a blanket or toy to keep it can comfort the little one but also helps them to see the officer in a positive light. Some children are subjected to their parents rants against the police or may have seen the officer arrest one of their parents. I think it is my minor little effort to get kids even at a early age, to trust the police and not see them as the bad guys. If you have a child in your life of any age, have a talk with them about the police. You never know what they over hear, see on TV or even see due to family members who break the law. Take the time to tell them the TRUTH about the men and women who put on that uniform everyday. It may save a life some day. Maybe even the life of the child.
