I have done a good deed I want to share with you all. Some of you - TopicsExpress

I have done a good deed I want to share with you all. Some of you may already know that my 5 year old son Jareth is autistic. Today I started on a path to help another child with autism. I couldnt go shopping today as we are snowed in but I rang the takeaway to see if they were delivering today, which they were. Since we moved here we always order from there and often get the same driver, a lovely lady in her fifties called Christa. Today Jareth greeted her at the door with his usual bouncing happiness and I told her that is his way of expressing joy, as he is autistic. She then told me she has her grandson living at home with her who has autism. Leon is the child of her son, and the boys mother didnt want to be burdened with a child that is different, and Christas sons new girlfriend didnt want the responsibility either, so she took her grandson. She also told me that no-one has been able to explain autism to her, even her grandsons psychologist (which is a bit lame considering the woman is a mental health professional) so I offered to help her as I have tons of knowledge and info on autism. She was so happy and grateful to have found someone who understands her and wants to help. I know what it is like to feel lost and alone with this, being a single parent is always tough but more so when your child has special needs, so I was so glad to offer my help. I gave her my number and she will pop in soon for a chat. It warmed my heart when she said I taught her more about autism in 5 minutes than anyone else and she feels that she understands some things better already. I believe this is the start of something really good for Christa, Leon, Jareth and me. I feel happier than I have done in a long time and look forward to our chat and visit next week. She is a wonderful woman for taking her grandson on, and it breaks my heart to think how this boy is ignored by his parents! My ex husband has Aspergers and One would think he would be my biggest support with Jareth as he can understand our boy better than me, as he goes through the same things, but Jeff ignores Jareth completely, has never paid child support in the 4 years we have been apart and cant be bothered, so I understand Christa very well. Our boys deserve love and support, and I will do my best to see that they get it
