I have done a lot of things in my life that people would consider difficult. Never in my life have I felt like something was impossible until last night. As I got in the car to go to Daniel s wake, I told my wife I couldnt see him. I didnt want to, and I knew I wouldnt be able to. I drove the funeral home with my mind made up that I couldnt see him that way. As I walked in to the funeral home the emotions were almost more than I could handle and I didnt know what to do. It was at that moment that I saw one of my Marine brothers that I hadnt seen in years. I could instantly tell that he was struggling as much as me. We continued in the line together and one by one our group grew. By the time we reached Dan there were 5 of us. I found a great peace and comfort in seeing Dan and know that I could have never found this peace without the help of my friends. We stayed and told stories and laughed. I know that the time we spent together helped each and everyone of us and for that I am thankful. I will never forget Dan or the memories of the hard times in which we carried each other to make it through. He was a brother to me and the kind of friend that comes along once in a lifetime. Rest easy brother...you did your bit and we are all well now. I made a promise to you many years ago and intent to keep it forever. Heart to the trigger!
