I have felt blessed with my job since day one, but especially this weekend. As a caretaker of the city of Newton cemeteries, I maintain the cemetery grounds. We have a total of nearly 6,000 graves in 3 cemeteries to mow and weedeat every week. I take pride in the trust bestowed to me by the family of the deceased and by the city of Newton to take care of them. On Thursday a group put flags on the graves of all veterans. There are now hundreds of small American flags in our cemeteries. We have graves dating back to 1805. Theoretically there could be veterans of the American revolution buried there. I know that we have veterans of the Civil war, WWI, WWII, KOREA, Vietnam, and Gulf wars. Every day is a history lesson for me & I am thankful and humbled by their sacrifice.
