I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept - TopicsExpress

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4.7,8 For the soldier, there is nothing so attractive as a victorious end to the battle. For the racer, there is nothing so appealing as the successful end to a race. And for the believer, there is nothing more glorious than to have come to the end of life having “kept the faith.” In this life, the Child of God will likely receive no garlands or trophies for his faithfulness. Rather, he will likely suffer some for his walk of faith. But, upon the completion of his course, the child of God shall receive a reward - a crown - that outshines anything the world can give. It will not be made of gold or any of the things which men count valuable. It is a crown made of righteousness. That is, once the believer is finished with the course laid out for him, he is made righteous, like his Lord. And what will this do for him? Chief among the benefits of being righteous will be the ability fully to appreciate Him who is our righteousness and enter into levels of fellowship with Him before unknown. And this hope gives us endurance as we run with patience the race set before us! -Joe
