I have given Mysterys music a bit of a skip the last few months as I was killing it by playing them all the time and have focused on some great new releases this year from other bands. But the other day I went on a long trip driving around the farm-lands looking for animals to buy....and in my car I use a 16 Gig flashdrive which i put on random play....a few songs played eg Whitesnake-Still Of the Night, Rainbow- Stargazer, Judas Priest- Deal With The Devil, Dokken- Kiss Of Death... ......and then came MYSTERY- The Awakening.... ......and yes I was re-awoken.... .....TO THE FACT THAT I WAS LISTENING TO SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL HERE....as good as the previous songs were that I listened to in the car....this music stood so high above it. Especially at 4m57s when BENOIT DAVID launches himself stratospherically by singing the words..... Thought I was flying like a dove In thunder roaring sound To raise my name high above But never left the ground I spread my wings like a dove For you to come around And Ive been blessed by your love Then Ive let you down Im falling... The song seems to be about the superficiality of people, especially when a person is famous and they are living in the fast lane...but as their star begins to fade so do all the people they thought were friends, girls that used to throw themselves at the star just to bask in that celebritys spotlight for a moment begin to dry up,all the genuine people that he has met during the 15 min of fame through the spotlight he has used and treated like dirt..as his star fades he becomes desperately loveless,friendless and alone....and when BENOIT sings about this it tears your heart out as only he can do.... (in all honesty BENOIT DAVID can sing u the McDonalds menu and you will get a lump in your throat). Michel St Pere and Benoit David were a match made in heaven....their music was faultless, flawless and perfect....Michel St Pere is a creative musical genius but even he would admit that Benoits vocals must have inspired his music greatly..... BENOIT is one of the greatest vocalists you will ever hear and I am gutted that he is not going to be on the new MYSTERY album....I have been listening to music intensely for 30 years and I have a collection of close to 25 000 cds........AND THIS MUSIC IS ABOVE THE WORD MAGICAL.....it is truly rare to hear music at this level....yes there are great bands out there but MYSTERY is very special...and there are only a handful of bands I put in their basket. I do however see an opening for MYSTERYS music to further improve...(if thats possible)... I sincerely wish that Michel St-Pere explores it...... and that is his darker side.!!!! MYSTERYS music is beautiful, sad and sometimes even happy....but I want to hear Michel get angry and explore his dark side.....I can only imagine the untapped reservoir Michel must have hidden in his heart.....angry and dark ALA PINK FLOYDs Sorrow or Yet Another Movie.... My message here is also a shout out to new Mystery vocalist Jean Pageau, I sincerely wish great things for you and from you on the new album....please make us all sit up and take notice....you are filling the shoes of someone who quite possibly is one of the finest vocalists to ever walk the planet.....!!! Michel has announced that they have done two songs already for the new album....I ask the band not to rush it....but make it worth the wait. Hope the new albums cover uses the Question Mark to give the band a bit of identity....I made a compilation CD of Mysterys greatest songs for a few people and titled it A QUESTION OF THE UNKNOWN.... Make the QUESTION MARK the MYSTERY symbol
