I have had a question that Ive passed by quite a few LDS friends, and each time I ask, I get a confused look. First, I want to say that I ask in all respectfulness and am genuinely wondering. So I have a few missionaries that I speak with, and weve talked about the first vision. I know what the official version says. But Ive read that it was published 22 years after the fact, and before the 1840s, most Mormons hadnt even heard it. Also, it was dictated to Crowdry, who wrote it. But Ive read another version written in the handwriting of Joseph smith that seems to contradict this version on several points, including when it happened and who appeared to him. How does the LDS church reconcile such differences?
