I have had in my mind a certain image of myself when Im old for many years. As Im approaching my later years, I dont think its going to work out. First of all, I thought Id be thin by now. I pictured myself as slender, wearing tight khaki slacks and a long free-flowing white blouse, my white hair cropped really short, like one-inch short, wearing HUGE black rimmed round glasses and large diamond earrings. I would wear gold lame pixie shoes everywhere I went. I would drive a brand new big L-O-N-G Cadillac, and if it were a convertible in an outrageous color, that would even be better. I would read good books and listen to classical music. I would shop at the finest boutiques. I would travel all over the world with my eclectic friends, favoring the European countries, buying fine china and crystal everywhere I went and having it shipped home. I would drink fine wine and eat in five-star restaurants. I would have face lifts until my eyes met my ears. I didnt factor in being fat in my aging years. Fat people look dumb with a boy haircut. Wearing tight khakis is completely out of the question. And big glasses on my puffy face wouldnt be attractive at all. You cant find gold lame pixie shoes anywhere anymore. They quit making the big, long Caddies, and certainly convertibles. I cant sit still long enough to read a book and classical music bores me. Im still a rock n roll girl. Guess I will be when Im 90. I dont care for traveling anymore. Airline seats, even in first class, are small and uncomfortable, and I have no need for more china or crystal. Wine gives me a headache and there are few five-star restaurants in this part of Texas. I dont give a hoot about a face lift. My jowls and baggy eyelids are a part of me now. Even multiple chins dont bother me that much. I guess Ill just keep posting my silly rants on Facebook and drink iced tea, snuggle with my dachshunds and my lawyer. I will have lunch with my friends, who, incidentally ARE eclectic, and cook our meals right here at home. Ill drive my ten-year-old Caddie, more than likely, until shes 15. And then Ill probably get a used Toyota. Ill continue to shop, but it will be right here in Paris or on Amazon. As for traveling, the Oklahoma casinos are good enough for me.
