I have heard Seattle people often say were the fastest-growing city in the U.S. My gut told me that was not true. I always felt it was Austin, TX. Turns out it depends on how you calculate. Seattle is only the fastest-growing city if you look at MAJOR cities with more than half a million people. If you look at all cities with 50,000 people or more, Seattle does not even fall in the top 5. See this chart from the U.S. Census Bureau. Three out of the top 5 fastest-growing cities are all in the AUSTIN, TEXAS metro area, which is no surprise to me.
