I have heard a lot of second hand comments about the Wounded Warrior Project in this group. Its time for a different perspective. I was fortunate enough to attend the Miami to Key West soldier ride this past week and I now have a stronger understanding of what this organization is all about. They are about engaging veterans through events and activities. They support the mind with combat stress recovery programs and family support retreats. They focus on improving our bodies with activities and health related educational events. Lastly they are empowering you to be successful in every aspect of your life. This last week, I not only watched each of the WWP soldier ride staff embody these 4 pillars but they created a rich environment of community support between the 60 of us who only had meet days prior. Ok so here is my pitch! If you have a service connected VA rating and served after 9-11, log on to Woundedwarriorproject.org and signup for your spot as alumni member. This is not only a great organization that has helped me with the VA process but has many great programs for you to get engaged, to included this soldier ride, (which I highly recommend) they want to help get you off the couch and feel that camaraderie again!
