I have heard numerous individuals state that the reason they got lawyers and politicians involved in their marriage (got government involved) was because they wanted their spouse to receive benefits from insurance policies, etc.... This is a fallacy and is not the truth. I just got a new life insurance policy, and I can make whoever I want the beneficiary. If it wasnt for so much government regulation, businesses would have to bend over backwards to us consumers and wouldnt care who benefits from what, as long as its all agreed to upfront (my friend could pull the plug on me if Im on life support if we agree to it beforehand or I can have my property go to other people through prior arrangements/will/etc). You dont need to get lawyers and politicians and narcissists involved in your marriage to have benefits go to whoever you want... you just need freedom. Dont get married through the state, my 2 cents.
