I have heard this idea before, but I havent really thought about - TopicsExpress

I have heard this idea before, but I havent really thought about it much until lately: is the state just a giant landlord? Are we really just living in anarcho-capitalism, and born and raised on a gigantic piece of private property owned by people called The U.S. Government? The only objection I could think of is that the government keeps us in with border controls. But if states had completely open borders, would they even be states at all?
