I have hesitated to say much about this election but At the risk of offending some people I will say what is on my mind. It is common sense to me that the mayor and previous council had no control over what has been happening in the past three years despite the experience of the individuals who we elected to represent us at the Municipal level. People are moving out of the town because of the decline in the one industry that we depend on. Oil companies will do what is best for themselves and their investors no matter who is the mayor and council of Fort Nelson. I do not blame the politicians for the decline in the industry nor do I give them credit for the success of it. Sure you need to work with them but they will decide themselves what the fate of Fort Nelson will be in terms of oil and gas. It is not rocket science! So no, you dont have to be in the. Old boys club to be the mayor.
