I have just 2 strong established colonies in my urban backyard. Today a beek friend who lives a few blocks away is bringing me a small colony that she collected but hasnt had time to hive. Small, only 3 or 4 full frames, but they have a queen and a feral feel if that makes sense. Its kind of late in the year for them to grow much but Im a positive thinker. There are still plenty of blooming plants for them to harvest. I have a deep full of frames w/wax foundation, and syrup until they get established. Id like to put drawn comb in but only have it on shallows. Considering putting in 1 or 2 of the shallow frames in spite of gaps to encourage them to build. I dont mind what they do with that little extra space as I never manipulate the bottom box anyway. Wish us well!
